Diabetes Education
At Topeka Pharmacy, we take pride in our exceptional Diabetes Education team and comprehensive range of educational resources. Whether you have Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, our staff will do everything they can to support you. Our Diabetes Education classes are thoughtfully designed to provide essential information based on the latest research, as-well-as unwavering support and encouragement to help you take charge of your health. Studies have shown that those who achieve their blood sugar goals experience fewer challenges and complications compared to those that do not. Year after year, we have helped our patients with Diabetes decrease their A1C by an average of 2% (this is more than double the national average of 0.7). Additionally, our patients see weight loss, a drop in blood pressure, and an increase in self-assurance. We know that controlling diabetes is not the simplest task in the world. At times, you may have more questions than answers! You can trust the Diabetes Education team at Topeka Pharmacy to help you on your road to better health!

Gestational Diabetes Classes
When blood sugar rises over healthy levels during pregnancy, gestational diabetes develops. It can have a significant impact on both the mother and the baby's health if left untreated. A change in lifestyle is the first step to managing blood sugar levels during pregnancy. This involves balancing physical activity and carbohydrate intake from the foods you eat. Once you are aware of the types of foods that affect your blood sugar, you can plan enjoyable, health-preserving meals for yourself and your family. You can also have faith that you are doing everything possible to manage your own health and the health of your baby. In one or two classes, our team can help you develop peace of mind by learning the skills necessary to manage your blood sugar safely during pregnancy.

insulin pump and cgm training
New technology for diabetes management, like insulin pumps and Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM), is truly changing lives for people with diabetes in our community. Unfortunately, this technology is not always accessible due to cost and difficulties associated with getting set up and learning how to use the technology at home. To help the community get better access, the Topeka Pharmacy Diabetes Education team is doing their due diligence to learn and develop programs to bring technology to us. Our Clinical Pharmacy Manger, a pharmacist, began training to become a pump specialist in 2023. Programs for setting up, monitoring, and updating pumps pursuant to provider’s orders are in the works. Currently, we are a great source of information on both CGMs and Pumps. Whether you or a loved one was just diagnosed, or you have had diabetes for many years, we are here to help you learn about the new technology available!
